CURE CF COLUMBUS

Research & Development Program
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a devastating disease for which there is currently no cure. Funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Cure CF Columbus Research Development Program (C3RDP) focuses on understanding defective CFTR function and underlying disease mechanisms to ultimately develop and translate novel approaches to prevent and treat CF.

Cure CF Columbus (C3) supports and promotes groundbreaking research and clinical cystic fibrosis-related activities with individuals located at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital, and subsequently applies this knowledge for the development of new therapeutic strategies to better arm host defenses that combat infection.
What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Helpful Facts about CF:
  • There are close to 40,000 children and adults living with cystic fibrosis in the United States
  • CF is global and not limited to a specific ethnic background. It is estimated that 105,000 people have been diagnosed with CF across 94 countries.
  • New mutations in CFTR continue to be found.
  • Approximately 1,000 new cases of CF are diagnosed each year.
  • More than 75% of people with CF are diagnosed by age 2.
  • About 60% of the CF population in age 18 or older.
